Welcome dear Linux…!

I just switched over to linux (fedora11) from windows.
Its looking good but is quite different from windows.
My first suggestion to all windows users willing to switch over to linux would be not to remove windows.
Alas! my WD hard disk does not support Linux.
Just play around a bit and you will get a feel of linux.

I found out an interesting thing in Fedora. One cannot login as root through GUI.
But there is 1 way to login as root in GUI.
The steps are-

1)Open terminal.
2)type su and enter your root password.
3)do cd cd /etc/pam.d/
4)take backup as:
cp gdm gdm.bkp

5) type vi gdm (open gdm file in vi editor)

6) find and delete the line
auth required pam_succeed_if.so user != root quiet

7) save changes as “:w” .

8) type vi gdm-password(open this file)

9) delete the line
auth required pam_succeed_if.so user != root quiet

10) save with saving the file as “:w”.

Now “Bob is your Uncle.”

11)close the terminal as logout.
12)In the login promt click on others.
Use username as root and password as ur root password.

And surprise… its done
